The United Confederation of Taino People (UCTP) pauses in its work to commemorate World Water Day.

As Taíno People, we understand the profound connection between water and the well-being of our culture, traditions, and ourselves. As a collective, the UCTP will continue to honor the sacredness of water every day.

The theme of this year’s World Water Day is ‘Water for Peace’ and the UCTP recognizes that access to clean water is a human right.

In 2023, the UCTP joined Indigenous Peoples from around the world to develop the Indigenous Peoples Declaration for the United Nations Water Conference.

Ni toh kakuhu! Water is life. #WorldWaterDay
