Miami, Florida (UCTP Taíno News) - In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, the United Confederation of Taíno People will co-organize and co-sponsor a cultural program entitled "Areito" on Saturday, November 9th at Gwen Cherry Park in Miami, Florida. This is the third and final 2024 program co-organized by the Puerto Rican Organization of Performing Arts and the United Confederation of Taíno People. The program will feature a Taíno inspired culinary presentation; storytelling and crafts for children; a book and arts display; a presentation on Taíno language; and a ceremony to honor the ancestors. The program is free and open to the public and presented in partnership with the American Indian Movement of Florida; El Ancón de Loiza; and the Combat Hippies. The Miami Areito is sponsored in part by Tiznando del País with support from Casa de Arte y Cultura de la Play de Ponce.
