UCTP Calls for a halt of Privatization Process for Sacred Sites in Borikén (Puerto Rico)

April 2022: "The United Confederation of Taíno People, along with other Indigenous brothers and sisters from Borikén, makes the following statement regarding the controversial dispute on whether our Caguana Indigenous Ceremonial Center in Caguana, Utuado, Puerto Rico, remains under the care of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP, for its acronym in Spanish) or if it is changed to be under the care and authority of the Municipality of Utuado , which has the potential to allow them to issue titles to third parties."

INDIGENOUS RECOGNITION IN THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS

In collaboration with Opia Taíno International and the Guainía Tribe of St. Thomas, the United Confederation of Taíno People is working to achieve recognition for Indigenous Peoples in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

This proclamation recognizes local organization Opia Taíno International and the United Confederation of Taíno Peoples in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

PEOPLES CLIMATE MARCH, WASHINGTON D.C.

The People's Climate March was a protest which took place in Washington D.C., and among 300 locations throughout the United States, and locations outside the U.S. The United Confederation of Taino People was a co-sponsor of the March.

BORIKÉN TAÍNO COMMUNITY RELIEF FUND

In response to the growing number of requests from community members needing assistance following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, the United Confederation of Taíno People launched an initiative to gather funds and resources for families that still need critical assistance in Puerto Rico.

THE PEOPLES CLIMATE MARCH, NYC

The People's Climate March (PCM) was a large-scale activist event orchestrated by the People's Climate Movement to advocate global action against climate change, which took place on Sunday, September 21, 2014, in New York City. The UCTP was a co-sponsor of the March.

U.S. CENSUS CAMPAIGN

The United Confederation of Taíno People, an official U.S. Census partner, used the increased focus on Taino heritage as well as new technologies like social networks in its campaign to raise awareness about the census process in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
